Well, it's the start of a new week, and I'm feeling pretty refreshed. I opted to stay home in the comfort of my warm bed most of the weekend. With all of the storms lately, I haven't been sleeping well, and it was nice to just relax and sleep in and rest.
Last week, I heard that Trisha
Yearwood would be signing copies of her new cookbook at Barnes & Noble on Sunday at 2pm. I had been wanting to get a copy of the cookbook anyway, so I figured I would just do it on Sunday and get it signed. I had never been to book signing, so I had no clue what I was getting myself into!
I showed up around 1:30, after Church and lunch and there was a note on the door that they would begin distributing tickets at 11:00 am. Tickets??? What???
I made my way inside to find it a complete madhouse! I had no idea that so many people were interested in Trisha
Yearwood - and many of them had 2+ copies of the cookbook. As I attempt to make my way to the register to buy a copy of the book, I overhear someone leaving the register tell the other members of her party that they are sold out of tickets and that people started lining up at 8:30 that morning. Wow! I like Trisha and all, and it would have been nice to have her autograph my book, but it's not THAT important. I decided to browse around the store for a little while (the side that was actually
maneuverable) and waited for the checkout line to go down. All-in-all, I was probably there for 30-40 minutes. In that time, they had only called ticket holders in group A to get in the signing line, and I know the groups went to at least F. People actually waited there ALL DAY!!! There is no person/celebrity/band, etc that I would ever spend that much time on. I have better things to do with my time - like sleep! Anyway, I did buy the book, and I'm glad it did because it's a beautiful cookbook with some great recipes that I can't wait to try.
Of course, I seem to be a collector of cookbooks. I have dozens of other cookbooks that I can't wait to try out too, so I'm making a commitment to myself (and my husband - he just doesn't know it yet!) to try at least one new recipe each week. And not all from the same cookbook, either. I have to spread the love among all my lovely cookbooks! I'm getting tired of eating the same things week after week, and I have no one to blame but myself. So we'll see how it goes!
So, here I am at the start of a new week, feeling refreshed, with a lot to look
forward to. Hopefully the weather will be decent so I can get out and run. Wednesday, I go to the orthodontist for my final check (hopefully) and then my next appointment after that will be for removal! Saturday brings the Remember the Ten run in
Stillwater, which is near and dear to the heart of my sister-in-law, as one of the people in the plane crash was a friend that she grew up with. If I don't run, I would at least like to go out and support her as she runs. And Sunday brings Golf Fore Missions, an annual fundraiser/golf tournament put on by our church to raise money for various missions
throughout the year. I don't play golf, but I will be running the registration table and hopefully getting to know a few more people from our church!
I'll let ya know how everything goes!!
